WSCAD ELECTRIX  – new features

Here are the latest functionalities and improvements of WSCAD ELECTRIX.
As soon as the new version ELECTRIX AI is available, customers with an ELECTRIX subscription licence or a maintenance contract can install the update free of charge via the pop-up window after starting the software, or via the ELECTRIX main menu Help | Internet Update.
If you are still using WSCAD SUITE, we strongly recommend that you switch to ELECTRIX.

Technical changes

Cut the dependency from Microsoft Access

The new version of our software frees you from the hurdles associated with Microsoft Access. The switch to the SQLite database format allows you to manage your project data seamlessly, reliably and efficiently, without the typical compatibility problems of Access.

Your added value:

  1. Smoother integration: You no longer have to worry about incompatibilities with different versions of MS Office or other third-party products.
  2. Greater reliability: Say goodbye to the constant error messages and data loss caused by the instability of Access.
  3. Improved performance: SQLite is lightweight and optimises the performance of your software, saving you valuable time.
  4. Microsoft support for Access 2019 ends on 14 Oct 2025; Microsoft support for Access 2021 ends on 13 Oct 2026. From ELECTRIX 2025, all WSCAD project databases will be in SQLite. Version 3.40.0 is supported.
  5. You do NOT need a SQL database

Starting with ELECTRIX AI, the electrical CAD software from WSCAD uses the SQLite database format. Don’t worry, your projects are converted automatically.

Optimised performance when working in the network

Users working in a network environment can edit important project files smoothly and without interruption, even with slow VPN connections. Project files from a network drive are automatically saved locally and locked for editing on the network. They are released again when uploaded to the network.

  1. Faster processing: Automatic local caching of project files makes remote working as efficient as if you were in the office.
  2. Reliable access to project data: Even if the network connection is interrupted, you retain access to your local data, which ensures continuous work and minimises downtime.

Usability

Time-saving assignment of connection attributes

The new function for assigning connection attributes saves valuable engineering time and significantly increases your efficiency. Instead of having to click on each connection individually, you can now define the desired attributes in advance and easily apply them to the desired connections using the mouse cursor.

  1. Time savings through automation: The tedious individual customisation of each connection is no longer necessary. You prepare the attributes once and then set them to the desired connections with a click.
  2. Easier operation: The intuitive function allows you to make changes quickly and easily without having to constantly switch between different menus.

Targeted troubleshooting thanks to improved checklist filters

The new filter function in the checklist makes troubleshooting in your projects even more precise and efficient. You can now search specifically for inconsistencies and errors on the current page or within a specific technology in order to isolate and resolve problems more quickly.

  1. Focussed troubleshooting: Save time by concentrating on the relevant errors on the open page or in a specific technology. This enables targeted and fast troubleshooting without having to fight your way through irrelevant entries.
  2. Efficient update: As soon as a bug is fixed, you can use the new ‘Refresh’ button to update the checklist immediately. This ensures that you always have the current status of your projects in view and can check the error corrections immediately.
  3. Increased productivity: The combination of precise filtering and fast updating allows you to work more efficiently and focus on the important aspects of your projects, improving overall project quality.

Documentation

New list placeholders for more detailed project documentation

With the new placeholders in the lists, you can expand your project documentation with additional, important details that ensure clarity and completeness. These improvements help you to make every project more precise and transparent.

Your added value:

  1. More comprehensive information in the cable list: You can now also display the manufacturer of the cable as well as the manufacturers of the source and target devices directly in the cable list. This facilitates traceability and ensures complete documentation of your cabling.
  2. Detailed wiring diagrams: In the wiring diagrams, you can now also view the sling of the wire, which significantly increases the technical precision of your documentation. This also enables the complete preparation of wiring lists for wire assembly machines.
  3. Extended use of descriptions and comments: In the material list, cable list, equipment diagram and wiring diagram, you now have the option of using specific descriptions and comments for all aspects of the project. This makes each list even more informative and specific, improving communication and understanding within your team.

These new placeholders give you the flexibility to tailor your lists to the exact needs of your project. The result is clearer, more detailed documentation that provides valuable insights for you and all stakeholders.

Targeted filtering in the material list

The new filter function in the material list gives you full control over the display of your components. You can now filter according to symbol data and other project and article data in order to efficiently include or exclude the relevant components.

  1. Precise selection: Filter for specific symbol data such as function text, article number, manufacturer and other symbol texts. This allows you to identify precisely the components that are important for your specific application and hide unimportant components.
  2. More efficient material planning: You can optimise your material planning with the option of filtering in detail according to symbol, project and article data.
  3. Flexibility in data selection: The new filter options allow you to flexibly and specifically select the data displayed, helping you to customise your lists to your exact project requirements.

Engineering

Cable management in the single-pole diagram

With the new functionality in the Electrical Engineering 1-pole technology, you can now place and manage cables directly in the single-pole diagram to their full extent. The Cable Manager is also available to you in this view, allowing you to assign and manage cables more efficiently.

  1. Comprehensive cable management: Now you can also use the Cable Manager in the single-pole diagram to manage cables just as precisely as in the circuit diagram. This enables seamless integration and consistent documentation across all diagrams.
  2. Creation of complete bus topologies: With this new function, you can now create complete bus topologies and single-pole diagrams without having to forego the familiar functionality. This expands your options for planning and visualising complex systems.
  3. Improved networking: The connection to the cables in the Electrical Engineering technology is retained so that you can ensure a continuous and consistent project structure. This makes management easier and reduces the risk of errors.

This enhancement significantly improves the functionality of your single-pole diagrams and offers you more flexibility and control in the management of your cable systems.

Representation of busbars in Electrical Engineering

With the new functionality in the Electrical Engineering technology, busbars and adapters can now be mapped correctly and completely.

  1. Correct article management: You can now assign article numbers for busbar adapters, which significantly simplifies the management and traceability of these components.
  2. Integration into the cabinet layout: Thanks to the links to the cabinet layout, you can ensure that the busbars and adapters are correctly positioned and documented in your planning. This improves the consistency between the electrical planning and the physical implementation.
  3. Simplified connection management: The new symbols enable both busbar and wire connections, which significantly increases the flexibility of your planning. You can now display all connections directly and correctly in the circuit diagram without compromising on symbolism.
  4. Clarity in the wiring list: Connections on the busbars do not appear in the wiring list, which makes for tidy and clear documentation. You retain an overview of the really relevant wiring without being distracted by unnecessary entries.

Integration

Flexibility thanks to customisable path to the Weidmüller M-Print PRO interface

With the new option of defining your own path to the .exe file of the Weidmüller M-Print PRO software, you can increase the flexibility and compatibility of your software environment. This function ensures that the connection also works smoothly with M-Print PRO software installed on a server.

Extended article database with flexible import and export options

Our article database now supports CSV, XML and XLSX formats, allowing you to flexibly edit and update your article data. The data can be edited externally and then re-imported to keep your item database up to date quickly and efficiently.

  1. Flexibility in data processing: With the option of exporting and importing article data in the common CSV, XML and XLSX formats, you can conveniently edit and manage your data in external tools. This gives you more freedom in data maintenance and customisation.
  2. Easy integration with ERP systems: Support for multiple formats makes it easier to integrate your item database with existing ERP systems. You can easily exchange and update data without having to rely on manual input.
  3. Efficient data updating: Thanks to the fast import of edited files, you can update article data in just a few steps. This saves time and reduces errors so that your data is always up-to-date and correct.
  4. Convenient management of large amounts of data: Especially with extensive article databases, this function enables convenient management and editing, as you can customise the data outside of the software in a tool that suits you.

These new import and export options make managing your article data even easier and more efficient, especially when integrating with ERP systems and processing large volumes of data.

New project type “Macro template project” for efficient macro creation and management

The new project type “Macro template project” considerably simplifies and automates the creation and management of macros. This project type combines the flexibility of macros with the strengths of a normal project, resulting in a much more efficient way of working.

  1. Automated macro creation: The new project type allows you to create macros from projects automatically.
  2. Mass editing of macros: Combining the flexibility of macros with cross-project functions ensures that mass editing of macros is efficient and simple. Swapping symbols or searching & replacing items in macros is easier than ever before.
  3. Increased user-friendliness: As macros can be viewed as a whole in the macro template project, placement becomes clearer even for less experienced colleagues, without the need for in-depth knowledge of projects and macros. This facilitates familiarisation and collaboration within the team.

The ‘Macro Template Project’ makes the creation, maintenance and use of macros more convenient, efficient and user-friendly – an ideal solution for optimising your project processes.

Extended Project Wizard with new versions for every need

The Project Wizard is now available in three different versions: Lite, Advanced and the familiar Expert version. This allows us to offer you even more power for project generation. The Lite version is free of charge for all ELECTRIX customers with a valid rental or maintenance contract.
